GVHBA 6th Annual Spring Parade of New Homes
April 19 - May 19, 2008
Only three more weekends left!
The Greater Vancouver Home Builders’ Association (GVHBA) presents its sixth annual Spring Parade of New Homes throughout the Lower Mainland on now until May 19, showcasing the latest in construction technology, building products and services, interior design, and more.
Nineteen builders are featuring 59 showhomes and four presentation centres at 33 homesites in 13 Lower Mainland municipalities – Burnaby, Coquitlam, Langley, Maple Ridge, New Westminster, North Vancouver, Pitt Meadows, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Richmond, Squamish, Surrey and Vancouver. Parade hours are Monday to Thursday 1-5 p.m. and Saturday/Sunday noon to 5 p.m.
GVHBA President John Friswell, a custom home builder and renovator, said the free-admission event is the largest and longest parade of new homes ever held in this region. “We increased the parade duration from two weeks to one month this year, allowing plenty of time to view all the homes without feeling the need to rush through them,” said Friswell.
“House prices have increased since last year’s parade due to the high cost of land, labour, and various taxes and transaction costs from all levels of government. Builders responded to the challenge by entering a variety of well-designed homes and condos priced to accommodate a range of buyers, whether they are just starting out or moving up to the next level of homeownership,” he said.
Included are single-family detached homes, townhomes, lowrise and highrise condominiums, even duplexes. Prices range from $234,900 for a space-efficient lowrise condo in Cloverdale, to $900,000 for a luxurious home nestled in the spectacular Sea-to-Sky community of Squamish. Watch for the prominent red “We’re on the Parade” signage at each participating builder’s homesite.
A free parade guide – with photos, maps and descriptions – is published in the April/May edition of Westcoast Homes and Design magazine, available now at more than 500 Lower Mainland locations, including IGA Marketplace, RBC Royal Bank and Chevron Town Pantry. Participating project profiles will be published in the home sections of The Vancouver Sun on Saturday, May 3 and in The Province on Sunday, May 4.
