  • Energy-efficient appliances introduce contemporary, industrial aesthetic and strong horizontal orientation that complements oak millwork's luxurious graining and colour. Bulkhead between kitchen and living-room removed enhancing natural light penetration and visual interconnectivity. Contemporary potlights replace dated track-lighting. 
  • Awkward eating-nook transformed into floor-to-ceiling storage and new location for side-by-side fridge, wine fridge, and backlit display cabinet. Freestanding table now occupies previously unused area in front of patio doors -- a logical solution that also encourages family interaction. Heated tile floor stands up to demands and inevitable dirt of active family with large dog.
  • Glass backsplash is dramatic yet low maintenance. Counter from single 160x60-inch granite slab -- only seam is concealed under cooktop. Leftover pieces used in bathrooms.
  • All cabinetry now floor-to-ceiling for maximum storage. Pantry features space-efficient pullout drawers. Programmable thermostat and EnergyStar appliances added. Original cabinetry, appliances, and counters recycled to basement suite.
