These days, many Vancouver families not only stop in Squamish, they live full time in this growing community that offers many amenities and opportunities to pursue a healthy, active lifestyle.

Polygon chairman took part in dangerous Freedom Rides

Polygon chairman took part in dangerous Freedom Rides,  Michael Audain travelled to Jackson, Mississippi in 1961 to join a group of courageous bus riders protesting against racism in the U.S

This month marks the 50th anniversary of the formation of the Freedom Riders, courageous and principled men and women - both black and white - who, through non-violent activism, challenged repressive segregation laws in the American Deep South.

So, why is my column on the 50th anniversary of the Freedom Rides being published in the Westcoast Homes section of The Vancouver Sun? Or, for that matter, what does it have to do with Vancouver?
 
Founded in 1980, Polygon Homes has built throughout the Lower Mainland nearly 20,000 homes - concrete highrise condos, woodframe lowrise condos, town houses and single-detached residences. The construction of those homes has generated approximately 50,000 person-years of employment.
